About Indigo Canines
A small, intentional program built by someone who needed one.
How this started
I began training dogs in 2017 and studying canine psychology and behavior around the same time. What started as a deep interest in how dogs think, learn, attach, and problem solve grew into a structured service dog and advanced obedience program rooted in clarity, stability, and ethical training practices.
Over the years, I have trained and assisted in the development of numerous service dogs, including several of my own. That experience has grown into Indigo Canines Co. and the three programs I offer today: fully trained service dogs through our New Purpose Program, structured Board&Train programs, and virtual service dog training for owner-trainers.
I am especially passionate about making well trained service dogs more accessible and affordable for the people who truly need them. Disabled individuals bring tremendous value and perspective to our communities, and my goal is not only to provide capable working partners, but to celebrate and support the people who rely on them. Service dogs are not accessories. They are lifelines, teammates, and bridges to greater independence.
How I train
My training philosophy is built on three things:
The dog is a working partner, not a tool
Service dogs have a job, but they're also living animals with needs, preferences, and limits. I train dogs that are confident, happy, and genuinely suited to the work. Not dogs that are suppressed into compliance.
The handler matters as much as the dog
A well-trained dog paired with an unprepared handler isn't a service dog team; it's a liability. Handler training is built into every program I offer, not treated as an afterthought.
Honesty over sales
If I don't think a service dog is the right fit for your situation, I'll tell you. If your dog isn't suited for service work, I'll tell you that too. I'd rather lose a client than place a dog that isn't ready.
Background & credentials
I prioritize reliability and quality over quick fixes. I believe in getting to the root of behavior through an understanding of canine psychology. Lasting results come from clarity, communication, and thoughtful structure. I am an AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator through the American Kennel Club and an IACP Certified Dog Trainer (IACP-CDT) through the International Association of Canine Professionals. My continued education includes seminars such as Exploring Canine Attachment Behavior, Canine Intelligent Disobedience and Cognition, workshops on Advanced Canine Body Language through the International School for Canine Psychology and Behavior, and the Fear Free Certification Program. Indigo Canines Co. is built on continued learning, thoughtful structure, and respect for both dogs and the people who depend on them.

Continued Education
Learning does not end with certifications. I attend seminars, complete a variety of professional courses, and continue to pursue educational opportunities whenever possible. I believe learning never truly ends, and there is always more to understand, refine, and grow.
Small by design
I take a limited number of clients at a time. That's not a constraint; it's a choice. The New Purpose Program requires months of individualized work. Board & Train clients get frequent updates, photos, videos, and direct access to me. Virtual course students get personal video feedback, not automated responses.
Indigo Canines is intentionally kept personal and hands-on. I work alongside a small team who help support our dogs and clients, while I remain directly involved in each program. As we continue to grow, maintaining that level of individual attention and connection will always be a priority.
If you're on the waitlist, it's because I'm giving the clients ahead of you the attention they deserve. You'll get the same.
